- Command Name : Format
-
- Function : Make a blank disk usable by the computer
-
- Arguments : <drive> NAME <name> [NOICONS] [FFS]
-
- Location : System directory
-
- You will have already met Format from the Workbench. What format does is
- initialise a blank disk in a way that lets the computer know it is an Amiga
- disk. Single drive users should copy this command to RAM: then use it as
- RAM:Format or type "Format ?" then the arguments separately. NOICONS means
- that a Trashcan is not created and FFS uses the fast file system. FFS disks
- can't be read by any computer running AmigaDOS 1.3 or below so it is best to
- only use FFS disks for your own use. Remember that NAME must be included.
